All local moves are based on our hourly rates. Our sales representatives are trained to help you keep your costs down by selecting the right amount of men for your job. One of them will give you a rate and it depends on the number of men you need to get the job done in the least amount of time. Sometimes an extra man will save time and end up costing less. Sometimes an extra man is not needed and would only add to the expense.
On long distance moves, you will be given a per pound rate and it is usually based on the items you wish to move. You can have a guaranteed price for the items you wish to move. The industrial scale determines your weight. Your driver will obtain a "certified weight ticket" from a certified scale. You may witness the weighing of your items. It is one of your rights
as a customer.
Why not? This is a good way to cut down on your moving expense. However, before you purchase a lot of coverage for your move make sure and let your representative know what you want to do. Packing your own items limits the liability of the carrier.
If you are going to spend money on coverage you may want the carrier to pack your items. You may want the moving company to pack you delicate and breakable items only. Your sales representative can help you work out the best method.
Your move will come with a small amount of basic coverage. Generally it is $0.60 per pound per article.
This is free of charge. On large items this may be enough to cover simple damage. On small items
it is probably not enough to cover very much. ACVL has a claims ratio that is well
below the national average, but claims do happen even to the best moving companies.
It is not very expensive to have good coverage for your important possessions.
There are also some things that no one will cover, like the mechanical condition of your TV.
You do not want to waste your money but there is also such a thing as peace of mind. Ask your
ACVL representative about coverage and which program would be the wisest use of your money.
The dispatcher will be calling days ahead of time to make arrangements for you to receive your belongings. This will not be a surprise. If you are worried you can always you can always call us and ask for dispatch.
They will have an answer for you.
